About Daigosoft

Hi! I'm Erich Rast, the developer behind Daigosoft, a small software studio in Lisbon, Portugal. As a philosopher, writer, and shareware programmer with many decades of experience (the journey started with a ZX-81), I founded Daigosoft out of frustration with the endless stream of web apps and AI slop that are seemingly free at first, only to siphon off your data and force you later to buy a subscription. Our goal is to bring back the fun to computing and create apps for desktop and mobile that are a perfect blend between traditional GUI software and online apps: software that is easy to use and runs on your machine, stores your data locally first, respects your privacy, and at the same time has powerful online functionality such as automatic syncing, support for multiple devices and operating systems, and functions like end-to-end encrypted chat and file transfer. A good tool doesn't need to be ground-breaking; it needs to work reliably and enhance your daily life.

A word about pricing: Although it feels nice to get things for free ay first, there are always hidden costs. Adware, trials, "freemium plans" and similar models turn the customer into a product. Burning startup funding to hand out seemingly free products is not the right solution either. In our view, such business models are not sustainable and all too often lead to unethical practices. Here is what Daigosoft offers instead: If there are permanent running costs for servers and online storage, we calculate fair subscription prices and tell you about them right away. If there are no running costs, you pay only once. It's as simple as that.
